Lacoste is a small historic hilltop town in the Vaucluse Department of Provence in the south of France between Ménerbes and Bonnieux, both of which are approximately 6km away and lying between the Petit Luberon Hills to the south and the River Calavon to the north. This is a protected area forming part of The Luberon Regional Natural Park. Lacoste is most well-known for the impressive 11th century château.
The landscaped garden is a delight. There's also a pond on the property which enjoys mottled shade, a perfect environment for the Koi carp. Please note that the pond does not have a perimeter fence, therefore children need to be supervised at all times when in the vicinity.
Situated just outside the kitchen and dining area, this is a wonderful spot to relax in the mottled shade of the Wisteria covered pergola. There are further areas near the swimming pool where meals can be enjoyed alfresco.
A well-known landscape designer and author has been at work here to develop the gardens. You will find a rose and ivy covered arched trellis; an incredible wide-spreading tilleul (lime tree) providing shade for the large dining table; five varieties of cherries--sweet or sour, late or early ripening; many artistically sculpted trees and bushes, and much more. There is even a stone garden, as shown in this photo. There is an unfenced pond on the property but it is clearly marked.
Mas des Roses has undergone a complete interior restoration, transforming this seductive Provencal mas into a 5 bedroom, en-suite luxury rental property. This property is without doubt one of the best rental properties in the Luberon area, its estate clearly visible from the hilltop village of Lacoste.
Located on the first floor, and indicated as Chambre 3 on the plans, this is an en-suite double bedroom with views over the grounds to Lacoste. The bed as shown is180*200 cm, but can be made into two twins beds.
There are five bedroom suites and ample living accommodation arranged over two principal floors, also including a mezzanine level. This bedroom, with its mezzanine bathroom, is indicated as Chambre 5 on the floor plans below. Bed is 169*193 cm.
The panoramic views extend from Lacoste itself to the north west across the valley and surrounding countryside towards the north, north east and east. This is an agricultural area of fertile plains and picturesque hills where fruit growing activities, including cherries and the well-known Cavaillon melon take place alongside the vineyards.
