Mas des Alpilles has been designed and created for your comfort both interior and exterior at all times during your stay. The exterior lighting allows you to continue to enjoy the wonderful garden and pool areas late into the night.
The owners may accept weddings, with special arrangements and an additional fee.
Yet another shaded place to enjoy meals al fresco, or just relax and watch the world go by.
Upon your arrival you will find a large fruit basket, a selection of cheese, Champagne and wine, breads, sausage, milk, cereal and more. You will have plenty for a light dinner your first evening and breakfast the next morning.
And finally, for the slightly less sporty (or for a well-earned rest after a good work-out) what could be nicer than a rest next to the refreshing fountain in the mottled shade of the mature pine tree.
The fabulous sitting-room has a magnificent chimney and an extremely high ceiling with a galleried corridor at first-floor level. Windows to both sides give a wonderful light, showing the various original works of art to their best advantage. The property is full of interesting pictures and artefacts which the owners have collected on their travels and in the many markets and brocante stalls of Provence, all of which combine to give the house a totally lived-in and welcoming feel. As well as being extremely comfortable, the sitting-room also houses Sky TV, a DVD player and CD, along with a wide assortment of books in English and games for all the family. For those wishing to work or to keep in touch with friends back home, there is also Wifi and a Fax machine.
For dining indoors, there is a large table seating 10-12. The house is beautifully and comprehensively furnished and every last detail has been carefully planned. The owner has thought of everything, even providing visitors with samples of his home-made jam and olive oil. Guests will really feel as though they've found a home away from home.
The enormous 'vaisselier' (china cupboard) contains crockery and cutlery for up to 50 people, and every kind of appliance has been provided, along with a choice of table linens and many pretty decorative items. And when the food is ready, pop outside to the herb garden for those final finishing touches. The house is equipped with fine antique linens and several sets of dishes for you to use, depending on your mood. Anyone interested in cooking and entertaining is bound to be enraptured by this kitchen!
There are several delightful seating areas, ideal for an al fresco breakfast, a long, lazy lunch or that all-important cocktail at the end of a busy day after viewing the myriad sites of Provence or lazing by the pool. For those who prefer a little shade to the hot sun, there are comfy rattan chairs providing a perfect place to read ..... or simply doze.
The owner has recently added an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and plancha.
The air-conditioned home cinema room is located in the basement, where partying is positively encouraged! A recent introduction to the home cinema room is a fully renovated Gaveaux upright piano dating from 1870, which professional and amateur pianists will appreciate. A second digital receiver has also been installed so that, as well as Sky TV reception in the sitting room, the home cinema receives Canal Sat.
There are three bedrooms in the main house - two upstairs and one downstairs, all with en-suite bath or shower rooms which will remain spick and span as the maid comes in for six hours each day. The bedroom picture here is the only bedroom on the ground floor in the main house. This is a 160 cm bed. All bedrooms are air-conditioned.
Up the staircase on the right you find the master bedroom with a 180 cm bed and en-suite bathroom. The room has a stone fireplace, crowned by an exquisite 'Trumeau' combination painting and mirror. Each bedroom has been individually designed and decorated with hand-crafted Provençal furniture and fabrics for an authentic Provençal look. The owners bought many of the pieces locally in St-Rémy-de-Provence and L'Isle sur la Sorgue, the latter famed for its enormous Sunday market and 300+ antique shops. Wake in the morning to the glorious view of the pool and the Parc des Alpilles.
The villa has two cottages with en-suite facilities; each has A/C. Each cottage has a downstairs bedroom plus a smaller bedroom on the mezzanine. However the mezzanine beds are not counted as part of the '10 person' accommodation so they are a plus.
Once again this air conditioned cottage is capable of sleeping a couple and 2 children. This makes the property ideal for people seeking togetherness yet privacy and is perfect for those with smaller children or teenagers as they can be confident of not disturbing other guests.
The mezzanine has 2 single beds, but these are not counted as part of the accommodation. They are a plus, and ideal for parents who would prefer to have their children sleeping close to them. Bear in mind that the staircase leading to the mezzanine is steep and therefore potentially hazardous.
