Stretching out towards the olive grove, the 10 x 7 metre swimming pool, with its crystal clear water, beckons you in. As you can see, there are plenty of sun loungers, and this pool has a 'plage' where you can sit in approximately 30 cm's of water, dangling your feet into the depths, reading or just relaxing while keeping an eye on the kids!
Between the main house and the pool area you will find the summer dining area. The summer kitchen, which you can see to the left of this photograph, has all you need to prepare outdoor meals. Mobile barbecues are banned in the summer months, so the summer kitchen has a built-in barbecue and grill - perfect for Dad to prepare his special barbecue dinners for family and friends.
This dining area, sitting under cover just outside the kitchen, is the perfect place to enjoy a meal in relative calm as the pool and garden are situated on the other side of the house. It also gets a little bit more breeze which is very welcome in the height of summer.
This cosy little corner is perfect for the aperitif, not far from the swimming pool so the kids can still be overlooked. Once again it offers some respite from the full effects of the sun. Plenty of candle cups are provided which help to create a special atmosphere as the evening wears on.
The kitchen is the most characterful room in the house, its features dating back hundreds of years. Fully equipped as you would expect, the welcome pack can also be seen on the table in the photograph above.
The sitting area is light, spacious and comfortable with an Ipod docking station and a large flat screen TV. There are large French windows leading out into the summer dining area, and the view looks across the swimming pool, over the olive grove and towards the Luberon mountains.
For those of you wishing to stay in touch with friends and - dare I say it - work during your stay, La Maison Chandon offers this handy bureau. Wifi internet is of course available at the property, and the owner also leaves sundry items of stationary in the office for your use.
La Maison Chandon enjoys spacious grounds to the side and rear of the property, allowing room to relax in a soft, green environment.
A pétanque area provides the perfect setting for the competitive aperitif game.
It's from the rear of the house that you begin to understand the true scale of the property. There's lots of parking space here, and to the right of this photograph you have the grounds, with the petanque court, which can be seen in the photo above.
On the first floor, between the main section of the house where the communal areas are situated and some of the bedrooms, there's a little terraced area where a few moments of privacy can be enjoyed. Perfect for that special cup of tea or a sip of rosé in the evening!
