The swimming pool, set between lavender beds, borders the lower terrace and has gentle stone steps leading into it – ideal for children.
There is plenty of lawn area for ball games and a little stream winds along the edge of the property on one side.
Ancient olive trees, stately cypress and formal box planting complete the graceful garden landscape.
The garden is bordered by a stone wall, beyond which are cherry trees and lavender fields.
The main garden is approached from the courtyard through the arched gateway which leads on to the upper terrace, where a graceful
wisteria forms a vast swathe of shade above the dining area in the hot summer months.
The garden offers everything for the sports enthusiast: As well as the impressive 12 metres x 6 metres infinity swimming pool there's an all-weather tennis court (private lessons available) and a boule pitch overlooking the vineyard and Mont Ventoux.
This photograph was taken from the courtyard, looking through the arched gates over the infinity swimming pool to the statue
nestled in the soft hedge, behind which you will find the all-weather tennis court.
Whether you just want to chill out in the beautiful courtyard, relax by the pool, play tennis (with or without a private tutor), play pétanque or venture further afield – whatever your choice – La Ferme d'Augustin is ideally situated. It is a perfect start point for many cycle rides (there is a good cycle hire shop in Bonnieux) and walks. The Luberon mountain range is a national park with well preserved natural areas with designated hiking trails.
There are several excellent golf courses in the general area and details such as cycle hire, golf, horse riding, and many other local activities are provided at the villa. The local villages each with their own colourful weekly markets which are the very essence of Provence, are well worth a visit. Further afield, Aix en Provence, Avignon, Arles, Nimes and Marseilles with their museums, culture and history, offer a welcome change to the peaceful life of the Luberon.
There are international music and drama festivals every summer including memorable concerts in Lacoste and the the hill-top church at Bonnieux.
There are many beautiful beaches to enjoy including Cassis, a charming fishing village near Marseilles. Cannes, with its hustle, bustle and glamour, is approximately 2.5 hours away. For wine lovers, there are many vineyards to visit where the conviviality of the owners make the tastings fun and informative.
Cookery, painting and pottery classes can be arranged. Other activities nearby include:
Museums, Antique Hunting, Theatres, Cinemas, Rafting, Kayaking, Boating, Biking, Mountain Biking, Wildlife Viewing. Hiking, Horse Riding, Hot Air Ballooning.
The built-in barbeque is housed in one of the two abris (covered areas) in the courtyard, an ideal alternative dining area, where the
mulberry tree offers shade throughout the day. There is also a gas barbecue.
The kitchen opens into the double vaulted sitting room with a stunning period open fireplace. The room has views over the boule pitch
and vineyard to the front and glass doors open onto the courtyard at the rear. A television with satellite connections offering
BBC, CNN etc and all French channels, is provided. There is high speed internet connection and wi-fi.
The front door of the villa opens into a large kitchen with vaulted ceiling and a 12-seater dining table.
There's a music centre with an extensive collection of mainly classical CD’s and, of course, all modern conveniences.
Both bedrooms (double beds in both) have superb views over the vineyard to the front and courtyard and pool to the rear. The landing linking all three rooms has a huge panoramic window overlooking Mont Ventoux. Quite a breathtaking view to wake up to!
